Privacy Statement

Your privacy matters to us. This statement explains what information RV-Roundup.com collects when you visit, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.

Effective date and last updated: October 31, 2026

Privacy at a glance

  • No accounts, no forms, no mailing list. You can use the whole site without telling us who you are.
  • Cookie-free analytics. We measure traffic with a privacy-focused tool hosted on our own server.
  • We never sell your information or use it for targeted advertising.
  • Some third-party content, such as Google Maps, YouTube videos and Amazon affiliate links, is governed by those companies’ own privacy policies.
  • You have choices. Contact privacy@rv-roundup.com to access, correct or delete your information.

Who we are

RV-Roundup.com (“RV-Roundup,” “we,” “us” or “our”) is an independent travel guide for RVers. We publish guides to RV parks and campgrounds, places to eat, things to do, and RV gear, tips and resources.

RV-Roundup is responsible for the personal information described in this Privacy Statement. If you have any question about it, you can reach us at privacy@rv-roundup.com.

Scope of this statement

This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit rv-roundup.com or contact us. “Personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to you or your device.

It does not cover the websites, apps or services of the RV parks, campgrounds, restaurants, attractions, retailers or other third parties we feature or link to. Those organizations have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.

Information we collect

We collect as little personal information as we need to run and improve the site. RV-Roundup does not offer user accounts, does not take payments, does not publish visitor comments and does not run a mailing list.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, some information is collected automatically by our analytics tool and by the servers that host the site:

  • Usage information, such as the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, how long you stay, the links you click, the searches you run on our site and the page or website that referred you.
  • Device and browser information, such as your browser type and version, operating system and device type (desktop, tablet or phone).
  • Approximate location, such as your country, region or city, inferred from your IP address. We do not collect precise location from your device’s GPS.
  • Technical and security logs, such as your IP address, the address requested, error codes and similar information our hosting provider records to deliver the site, prevent abuse and diagnose problems.

We measure site traffic with Independent Analytics, a privacy-focused tool that runs on our own web server. It does not place analytics cookies on your device, and the analytics data it collects is stored on our server rather than being sent to an outside advertising or analytics company. Visitors are counted using a pseudonymous identifier instead of a stored, readable IP address.

Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and anything you choose to put in your message, such as a correction to a listing, a photo permission, a business inquiry or a privacy request. Please don’t send us sensitive information, such as financial details, health information or government ID numbers.

Information from third parties

Some services we work with may give us limited information. For example, Amazon provides us with reports of qualifying purchases made through our affiliate links. Those reports show items and commissions, not your name, contact details or payment information.

Information we do not collect

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers, financial account or card numbers, precise geolocation, health information, or information about race, religion or sexual orientation.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Operate, maintain and deliver the site and its content.
  • Understand which guides are useful, which pages need improvement and how visitors find us.
  • Respond to your emails, corrections, permission requests and other inquiries.
  • Protect the site and our visitors, including detecting and preventing spam, fraud, abuse and security incidents.
  • Track affiliate referrals so we can be paid commissions that support the site.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce our rights and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising, we do not build advertising profiles about you, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Legitimate interests, to run, secure and improve the site, measure traffic in a privacy-friendly way and respond to messages you send us. We have balanced these interests against your rights and keep the data we collect to a minimum.
  • Consent, where required by law, for example before loading certain third-party content. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation, where we must process information to comply with the law.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. RV-Roundup itself does not use advertising cookies, and our analytics tool does not set cookies. Cookies may be set by third-party services that are embedded in or linked from our pages, such as Google Maps, YouTube and Amazon, as described below.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies won’t stop you from reading the site, though some embedded maps or videos may not work as expected. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

Embedded content and third-party services

Many of our pages include content from other services to help you plan your trip. When this content loads, or when you interact with it, your browser connects directly to that provider, which may receive your IP address, browser information and the page you are viewing, and may set its own cookies. That provider’s privacy policy governs how it handles this information.

  • Google Maps shows the location of parks, restaurants and attractions. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • YouTube videos, provided by Google, play on some pages when you choose to watch them. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google review widgets may display public Google reviews of a business. The widget may load content from Google or the widget provider.
  • Social media links to Instagram, Facebook and similar platforms take you to those sites, where their own privacy policies apply. We do not use social media tracking pixels.

RV-Roundup is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. It doesn’t change the price you pay.

When you click an Amazon link on our site, Amazon may use cookies or similar technologies to record that you came from RV-Roundup so the purchase can be credited to us. Amazon does not share your identity or payment details with us. Your use of Amazon is governed by the Amazon Privacy Notice.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only as described below:

  • Service providers who help us run the site, such as our web hosting, security and email providers. They may use the information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
  • Third-party services you interact with, such as the embedded maps, videos and affiliate links described above, which receive information directly from your browser.
  • Legal and safety reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of RV-Roundup, our visitors or others.
  • Business transfers, if RV-Roundup is involved in a sale, merger, acquisition or similar transaction. Any successor will be required to honor this Privacy Statement for information it receives.
  • With your permission, or at your direction.

We may also share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, such as total page views for a destination guide.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this statement, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. In practice:

  • Analytics data is kept to understand long-term traffic trends and is reviewed periodically. Older data may be deleted or kept only in aggregated form.
  • Server and security logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider and then deleted or overwritten in the normal course of operations.
  • Emails are kept as long as needed to respond and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence, such as photo permissions, and are then deleted.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, access to site administration is restricted, and we keep our software up to date. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honor reasonable requests from all visitors, wherever they are located, subject to the exceptions the law allows:

  • Access: ask whether we process your personal information and request a copy of it.
  • Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Deletion: ask us to delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Portability: ask for a copy of your information in a portable format.
  • Opt out: opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising and profiling. We do not engage in these activities.
  • Restriction and objection (EEA and UK): ask us to limit how we use your information or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws, including Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and others, may have the rights listed above. In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Information we collect: identifiers (such as IP address and email address), internet or other electronic network activity, and approximate geolocation. We collected them from you and your device for the purposes described in How we use information, and disclosed them only to the categories of recipients in How we share information. We have not sold or shared personal information, including that of consumers under 16 years of age.

California residents may also request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes under California’s “Shine the Light” law. We do not make such disclosures.

EEA, UK and Swiss privacy rights

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first, so please contact us.

How to make a request

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@rv-roundup.com with the subject line “Privacy Request” and tell us which right you want to exercise. To protect your information, we may ask for details to verify your identity, such as confirming the email address you used to contact us. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, generally within 30 to 45 days, and will tell you if we need more time.

You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask the agent for proof of authorization and may ask you to verify your identity directly.

If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.” We will respond to your appeal within the time required by law. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact your state attorney general.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

Some browsers and extensions can send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. We treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for your browser. Because we do not sell or share personal information, no further action is needed on your part.

Some browsers also send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to these signals. Our own analytics do not use cookies or track you across other websites. Third-party services embedded on our pages may respond to these signals according to their own policies.

Children’s privacy

RV-Roundup is a general-audience website intended for adults planning RV travel. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us at privacy@rv-roundup.com and we will delete it.

International visitors

RV-Roundup is operated from the United States, and our site is hosted in the United States. If you visit from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Links to other websites

Our guides link to RV park, campground, business, government and booking websites so you can check details at the source. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those websites. Once you leave RV-Roundup, the privacy policy of the site you visit applies.

Changes to this statement

We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time to reflect changes to the site, our practices or the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to call attention to them, such as with a notice on the site. We encourage you to review this statement periodically.
