Short, calm, clearly filmed videos show you how to check tire pressure, service a generator, prevent slide-out leaks and much more. No signal? No problem
How to watch YouTube on the road
Cell service fades fast in national parks and on back roads. Set these up once and your favorite channels are ready wherever you park.
1 Tip 1: Download
Save videos for offline
A YouTube Premium membership lets you download videos in the YouTube app and watch them with no signal at all. Queue up a few episodes before you head into the backcountry.
2 Tip 2: Save data
Turn on Data saver
Video uses far more data than music or podcasts. In the YouTube app’s settings, set video quality on mobile networks to Data saver so a long drive does not eat your plan.
3 Tip 3: Big screen
Watch on the RV TV
On campground Wi-Fi or a hotspot, cast from your phone to a smart TV or streaming stick, or open the YouTube app on the TV itself. Great for planning tomorrow’s route together.
Campground Wi-Fi tip
Shared campground Wi-Fi slows down in the evening when everyone is streaming. Download tomorrow’s videos early in the morning or midday, when fewer people are online. Prefer to listen while you drive? Try our favorite RV podcasts.
