What campers say

The campground report card

We don’t recycle other sites’ reviews, but the published scores are worth reading together: campers praise the redwood shade, clean bathrooms, free showers and friendly managers, while missing Wi-Fi, US-101 noise and muddy or dusty roads pull some scores down.

Ramblin’ Redwoods (once The Redwoods RV Resort) is an independent campground under old-growth redwoods north of Crescent City, with pull-thru and back-in full-hookup sites, tent sites and cabins. It’s a favorite for its shade, trails and bathrooms; the trade-offs are highway noise and, for now, no Wi-Fi.

Best for

  • Big rigs: 30/50-amp full-hookup pull-thrus and back-ins.
  • Dog owners: a fenced dog run, a creekside dog trail and up to 3 pets.
  • Redwood lovers: trails wind through old growth inside the park.
  • Long stays: monthly sites with $100 off each month off-season.

Consider this

  • Wi-Fi isn’t available right now; the park is moving to a new provider.
  • Sites near US-101 hear traffic.
  • Roads can be muddy in rain and dusty in summer, campers say.
  • Some prime spots are taken by long-term campers.
