What guests say
The park report card
We don’t recycle other sites’ reviews, but the published scores tell a clear story: RVers praise the friendly staff, the level, roomy sites and the pool and lazy river, and the gripes are about little shade, mosquitoes, rising prices and the drive into town.

Before you book
Plan your stay
Everything that decides whether the KOA fits your rig, your dates and your budget, in one place.
Our take: a polished KOA Holiday at the quiet far end of the island: level concrete patio sites for big rigs, a heated pool, a lazy river and a fishing pond, with the beach across the road and a friendly, award-winning staff. Shade is scarce, mosquitoes find the marsh-side sites, nightly prices have climbed since KOA took over, and everything else is a 20- to 35-minute drive.

The park opened as Galveston Island RV Resort and was bought by Kampgrounds of America in 2021, when it had about 151 RV sites on 28 acres. It’s now a KOA Holiday with a 2025 World Class Guest Service award, and it suits families and big-rig RVers who want resort amenities away from the crowds.
Best for
- Big rigs: concrete patio sites up to 65 ft, including Big Rig Friendly pull-thrus.
- Families: a heated pool, a lazy river, a bounce pad, a playground and themed weekends.
- Dog owners: the KampK9 park plus Paw Pen sites with private fenced yards.
- Winter Texans: monthly winter rates from $699 and weekend-only Stay & Play plans.
Consider this
- It’s far from town: Moody Gardens and the Strand are 30 to 36 minutes away, and groceries need a drive.
- Young palms mean little shade, and mosquitoes are a common complaint.
- Wi-Fi is a paid add-on, not free.
- Some reviewers say prices and monthly rates have risen sharply since KOA took over.

Five things that change your booking
Ask these on the phone before you reserve.
- Which site type fits my rig? Choose from Big Rig Friendly pull-thrus, Preferred and Standard back-ins, Sky Deck, Paw Pen and KOA Patio sites; Mystery Sites are assigned at check-in.
- What’s the nightly rate for my dates? KOA shows it only in the booking engine, so price your dates there or call.
- Is there a holiday or rally minimum? The 7-night discount is blacked out on holidays and the Lone Star Rally weekend.
- Can I have a campfire? Fire rings are only at KOA Patio sites.
- Do you honor Good Sam? Some listings mention a Good Sam discount, but KOA doesn’t; ask before you count on it.
