The Full Flight tour

The signature tour covers all seven ziplines, two sky bridges and two auto-belay descents, with two guides for each group. The longest line runs about 1,600 feet, riders reach roughly 35 mph, and Timberline says you’ll soar as high as 450 feet above the lake.

RV tip: plan on about four hours from parking to return, including the 30-minute early check-in and the shuttle ride each way.

Why go

A family-run course in a replanted forest

Timberline opened in 2015. Owner Paul Buttars got into ziplining after a school friend built a tour in Tennessee, and his family helps run the business. The course sits on 147 acres of former logging land replanted with seedlings, and its platforms are built about 40% lighter than many to go easier on the trees.

For RVers it’s refreshingly simple: you don’t drive the rig, or even the tow vehicle, up the mountain. Park downtown, check in at the Plaza Shops at The Coeur d’Alene Resort, and a van and an open-air UTV take you about 12 miles east and 800 feet up to the course, then bring you back.

The season runs from snowmelt, usually early April, through October 31. Reserve ahead for summer dates, and bring closed-toe shoes with good soles.

For RVers

Ziplining on an RV trip

The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.

Park at the Diamond Lot

Timberline’s tour listing says to park in the Diamond Lot at 3rd Street and Front Avenue and pay for 4 hours; tours return to the same meeting point. No RV parking is listed downtown, so come in the tow vehicle and leave the rig at camp.

Ride, don’t drive, to the course

The course is about 12 miles east, above Beauty Bay, but you don’t drive there. After check-in at the downtown office, guides take you by van and then an open-air UTV that climbs about 800 feet to the property.

Age, weight and shoes

Most listings set the minimum age at 7 (one booking site says 6) and the weight range at 80 to 260 pounds, and everyone is weighed at check-in. Wear closed-toe shoes with good soles. The tour isn’t wheelchair accessible and isn’t advised for back or heart problems or pregnancy.

Leave pets at camp

Timberline doesn’t publish a pet policy, and with the shuttle and three hours or so away, pets are better off at camp. Never leave them in a parked vehicle downtown on a warm day.
