Astoria Column
Climb 164 spiral steps inside a 125-foot painted column on Coxcomb Hill for views over Astoria and the Columbia River, then send a balsa glider off the top – the climb itself is free.

Cape Perpetua Scenic Area
Watch the surf boil through Devil’s Churn and Thor’s Well, then drive the winding forest road to an 800-foot overlook that takes in about 70 miles of Oregon coastline, just south of Yachats.

Columbia River Maritime Museum
Oregon’s official maritime museum sits on the Astoria riverfront, with Coast Guard rescue boats, Graveyard of the Pacific stories and a walk through the 1950 Lightship Columbia, all on one ticket.

Ecola State Park
Wind up through Sitka spruce forest to grassy bluffs above the Pacific, then picnic, walk to Indian Beach’s tidepools, or hike the Tillamook Head route Captain Clark’s party followed in 1806.

Haystack Rock
Walk the sand to a 235-foot basalt sea stack in Cannon Beach, where low tide opens a protected Marine Garden of sea stars and anemones and Tufted Puffins nest on the grassy slopes from spring into summer.

Oregon Coast Aquarium
Walk through 200 feet of acrylic tunnels under sharks and rays, watch sea otters and puffins outdoors, and look out over Yaquina Bay at this nonprofit aquarium just south of Newport’s bay bridge.

Sea Lion Caves
Ride an elevator 208 feet down through the headland into America’s largest sea cave, where Steller sea lions crowd the rocks in winter, 11 miles north of Florence on US-101.

Tillamook Creamery
Watch Tillamook cheese being made and packaged from the viewing gallery, try free samples, then grab a scoop at the ice cream counter – all right on US-101 at the north end of Tillamook.

Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area
Walk out to Oregon’s tallest lighthouse, browse the BLM interpretive center, then pick your way down to the Cobble Beach tide pools on a basalt headland just north of Newport.
