What you’ll see

Four arches of shed elk antlers

Each corner of George Washington Memorial Park has an arch built from antlers that elk dropped on the nearby National Elk Refuge.

Walk all four antler arches

The first arch went up in 1953, built by the Jackson Hole Rotary Club at the southwest corner. Arches followed at the other corners in 1966, 1967 and 1969. The Rotary later raised money to rebuild all four with fresh antlers, and the last one was finished in June 2015. A stone memorial to local veterans stands in the middle of the park.

RV tip: Leave the rig at camp. Downtown street parking is limited to 3 hours, and the Home Ranch lot two blocks north has oversize stalls for RVs and trailer rigs.

Why go

Why Town Square belongs on your Jackson trip

Town Square is the official George Washington Memorial Park, and almost everything downtown radiates from it. The antler arches are the photo everyone takes, and they’re free to visit any time of day.

Parking is the one thing to plan. Streets in the core allow 3-hour parking, there’s no overnight street parking from November 1 to April 15, and town lots ban parking from 2 to 7 am. The Home Ranch lot at Cache and Gill has oversize stalls set aside for buses, RVs and trailer rigs, or you can ride the free in-town START shuttle.

In late fall the square is quieter, the shops are open and the arches get their holiday lights after Thanksgiving. In summer, come by 6 pm for the Shootout when it returns in 2027.

For RVers

Visiting Town Square in an RV

The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.

Use the Home Ranch lot

The Home Ranch lot at Cache and Gill, two blocks north of the square, has oversize stalls reserved for buses, RVs and vehicles towing trailers. It has a 3-hour limit and no parking from 2 to 7 am.

Approach on wide streets

The Jackson Hole Chamber suggests reaching the RV-friendly lots by Broadway, Willow and Gill streets rather than squeezing through the core.

No overnight parking

From November 1 to April 15 there’s no overnight street parking in town, and downtown lots prohibit parking from 2 to 7 am all year. Don’t plan to sleep in the rig downtown.

Or take START

The in-town START shuttle is free. Paid START routes also run to Teton Village and Wilson; carry exact cash, because drivers can’t make change or take cards.
