The Mel’s story

Branson’s original singing servers

The diner opened in 1993 in the Grand Village shops on the 76 Strip. Mel and Liz Bilbo bought it in 2004 and added “Mel’s” to the name; Mel had worked in entertainment at Busch Gardens, Disney and Silver Dollar City.

The servers, hosts and cooks are professional singers who audition for the job, and many also perform in Branson shows. They take turns singing through your meal with no set show times, and the website warns that the live music can make normal conversation hard.
