What you’ll see

Coasters, a cave and a craft village

Silver Dollar City covers more than 61 acres of Ozark hillside above Marvel Cave, with over 40 rides and attractions, live shows and craft shops along shaded lanes.

Marvel Cave

The park grew up around this cave. A 60-minute guided tour takes you about 300 feet down into the Cathedral Room, which the park bills as the largest cave entrance room in the country, and a cable train brings you back up. The tour is strenuous, with many stairs.

RV tip: some coasters close in cold weather (Time Traveler below 41°F, Outlaw Run below 34°F), so ride the big ones in the warmest part of a Christmas-season afternoon.

More to see

  • Outlaw RunA wooden coaster with a 162-foot, 81-degree first drop, a top speed of 68 mph and a double barrel roll. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall.
  • Time TravelerA spinning coaster with a 10-story vertical drop, three inversions and a top speed of 50.3 mph. The height minimum is 51 inches.
  • Craftsmen and 60 shopsResident craftsmen demonstrate heritage crafts around the park, and their handmade goods are sold in its shops.
  • An Old Time ChristmasNovember 7, 2026, to January 2, 2027: light tunnels in Midtown, an 8-story animated tree on Town Square and a new, longer parade.

Why go

Branson’s classic day out, in every season

Hugo and Mary Herschend began running tours of Marvel Cave in 1950, and the family opened Silver Dollar City above it in 1960. More than 125,000 people came that first year, and the park has kept its 1880s Ozark-village feel ever since.

For RVers it’s an easy big park to visit. General parking is free, trams and buses run from the lots to the gate, and small coolers are allowed, so you can bring lunch from the rig. Tall Pines Campground is about 6 minutes away on MO-265.

The season runs from mid-March to early January, with festivals in between. An Old Time Christmas runs from November 7, 2026, to January 2, 2027. It’s also Thunderation’s last season, and a new family coaster, Miner’s Mountain Express, is planned for spring 2027.

Why it made our list

  • Over 40 rides and attractions on 61 acres
  • Marvel Cave tours 300 feet underground
  • Free general parking with trams to the gate
  • 6.5 million lights at Christmas
  • Small coolers allowed in the park

For RVers

Taking the rig to Silver Dollar City

The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.

Plan the drive west on MO-76

The park sits west of Branson off MO-76 and Indian Point Road. Expect two-lane hills and steady traffic on festival evenings, and allow extra time for the drive back to camp after dark.

Ask before bringing a big rig

General parking is free, and trams and buses carry you from the lots to the ticket plaza. The park doesn’t publish RV or oversized-vehicle rules, so call (417) 336-7100 first, or come in the tow vehicle.

Leave pets at camp

Only service animals are allowed in the park, and the park asks guests not to leave pets in vehicles. Its FAQ lists area kennels if your RV park can’t help.

Camp next to the park

The park’s own Silver Dollar City Campground on MO-265 runs a free shuttle to the gate about every 3 hours, and leashed pets are welcome there. Tall Pines Campground, which we’ve written up, is close by.
