Green chile wine and more
Noisy Water’s best-known pour is Besito Caliente, a wine infused with Hatch green chiles for at least a month. The lineup also includes Rojo Caliente, a semi-sweet red chile wine, and the Jo Mamma’s family of sweet blends, plus New Mexico cheeses and gourmet foods to taste and buy.
RV tip: the winery doesn’t post its walk-in tasting price or hours on its website, so call (575) 257-9335 before you drive in, and come in the tow vehicle; Midtown parking can be tight.

Why go
From a T-shirt shop to a statewide winery
The Riddle family moved to the Ruidoso area in 1986 and ran a T-shirt printing shop on Sudderth Drive. In 2009, Rick Riddle and Mary Jo Piedmont turned it into the Cellar Uncorked wine bar, selling only New Mexico products, and their son Jasper Riddle came home in 2010 and took over the business.
The name nods to the Rio Ruidoso, the “noisy” river that gave the village its name. The wines use New Mexico grapes, mostly from the family’s vineyard near Engle, and in 2018 Jasper Riddle was named New Mexico’s SBA Small Business Person of the Year.
In February 2022 the main tasting room moved into a restored two-story building in Midtown that once held an Irish pub, and it kept the stained-glass windows. It sits in the middle of Midtown, a short walk from shops, galleries and restaurants.
