Why go

Why the rodeo belongs on your summer Jackson trip

The rodeo has been part of Jackson Hole’s cowboy culture since the first settlers arrived. The official site dates the tradition to 1890, and the local history museum records an organized “Jackson’s Hole Frontier Rodeo” by 1911. The Wilson family has kept it running for generations.

The grounds are at the Teton County Fairgrounds, 447 W Snow King Ave, a few blocks from Town Square and below Snow King Mountain. The rodeo doesn’t publish RV parking, so leave the rig at camp and come in the tow car, or walk over from dinner downtown.

The 2026 season ran from May 30 to the finals on September 2. Plan your 2027 visit for a Wednesday or Saturday night, or a Friday in July or August, and buy tickets early.

For RVers

Going to the rodeo in an RV

The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.

Bring the tow car

The rodeo’s site lists ADA-approved parking but no RV or oversize spaces at the fairgrounds. Leave the rig at camp, or park downtown and walk over.

Plan the drive home

The rodeo ends between 9:30 and 10 pm, so you’ll drive back to camp in the dark. Watch for wildlife on the roads out of town.

Buy tickets early

Tickets are sold only at jhrodeo.com, many shows sell out, and they’re non-refundable. Tickets from Facebook comments or resellers can’t be verified.

Dogs stay at camp

No dogs are allowed at the rodeo grounds. Bring a warm layer instead; evenings cool off fast and the rodeo runs rain or shine.
