The Silly Al’s story

A family pizza joint with a desert backstory

Al and Joanie Robertson opened the first Silly Al’s in 1982 in a double-wide trailer in nearby Ehrenberg, with seven booths. In 1986 Al bought land and a tin shed in Quartzsite for “Silly Al’s Pizza number two,” the restaurant that still stands on West Main Street.

A 1995 addition brought a dance floor, a bar and a bigger kitchen. After Al died in 2002, son Robbie and his wife Karon took over. The restaurant says it sells more than 300 pizzas a day in the busy months.
