Before you book

Plan your stay

Everything that decides whether Mountain Gate fits your rig, your dates and your budget, in one place.

Our take: a clean, shady, well-run stop right off I-5 with level cement pads, a saltwater pool and a fenced dog park, and Shasta Lake 10 minutes away. Expect freeway noise near the front, a short list of add-on fees and summer heat, so ask for a site toward the back and confirm your total before you pay.

Five things that change your booking

Ask these on the phone before you reserve.

  • What will my total be? Give your rig length, party size and pets and ask for the nightly price with tax and fees.
  • Can I get a site toward the back? RVers say the rows farthest from I-5 are the quietest; a site lock is $8.
  • Is the pool open? It’s a saltwater pool; ask about this season’s hours and dates.
  • What’s the cancellation policy? The park says it varies by date, so get it in writing (by email).
  • Are Wi-Fi and cable included? The park lists both as free; one booking site lists them as extras.

Frequently asked questions

A few details before you hit the road.

About 10 minutes. Bridge Bay on Shasta Lake is roughly 4 miles north on I-5, and Shasta Dam and Lake Shasta Caverns are each about 15 minutes away by Google Maps.

Probably. Listings give a maximum length of about 67–70 ft, and the park has 41 pull-thru sites on cement pads with 20/30/50 amp power. The deluxe pull-thrus are the roomiest, so call ahead if your rig is over 40 ft.

Published nightly rates run from $62.89 to $72.89 depending on the site type and date, plus 10% lodging tax and a $6.50 service fee per reservation. Weekly stays are $425–$475 and monthly sites $850–$900 with an application.

It can be near the front. I-5 runs along the park, and noise is the lowest of Campendium’s category scores (3.4 of 5). Reviewers say the back rows are much quieter and that the noise fades at night.

Yes. Dogs are $5 a day each, with a two-dog maximum, and there’s a fenced dog park. Dogs must be leashed elsewhere, and pets aren’t allowed in the cabins.

The park doesn’t publish one for nightly guests. Weekly rates are available, and monthly sites ($850–$900) need a rental application.

It’s wise in summer and on holiday weekends, when Shasta Lake is busiest. Book online through the park’s booking page or call (530) 524-4599; a credit card holds the site, and the park doesn’t take cash.
