What to order
The menu has barely changed in more than a century: single or double hamburgers and cheeseburgers with pickle and onion, a slice of pie and a few drinks. There are no fries.

A house favorite
Double cheeseburger
Two hand-formed beef patties cooked on the flat-top in front of the counter, with cheese, pickle and sliced onion on a plain bun. Add the house spicy ketchup or hot mustard.
Pro tip: Order like a regular: a “double with both” (pickle and onion), then try a dab of the secret spicy ketchup. Bring cash, and call in a to-go order if every stool is taken.

The Hudson’s story
Five generations behind one counter
Harley Hudson started selling hamburgers from a tent on Coeur d’Alene’s main street in 1907, back when a burger cost a dime. The family moved to its current spot at 207 E Sherman Avenue in 1962.
Five generations later, the Hudson family still runs the counter. Sunset magazine celebrated its 100th birthday in 2007, and in 2021 Big 7 Travel ranked it among the 50 best burgers in the United States.
