The Meltz story

Grilled cheese, made extreme since 2012

Chef Joe McCarthy, a culinary-school graduate with a fine-dining background, and partner Matt Yetter opened Meltz in 2012 in a small space at Kathleen Avenue and Ramsey Road. They saw cheese as a blank canvas for bold sandwiches.

The shop has since won national attention for its grilled cheese and inspired sister shops in Boise, Bend and Spokane’s airport. This Coeur d’Alene shop is the original.
