Before you book

Plan your stay

Everything that decides whether Munds Park RV Resort fits your rig, your dates and your budget, in one place.

Our take: a summer address in the pines, not an overnight stop. Big rigs do best in the newer, open phases; shade and character live in the older loops.

Think of Munds Park as a summer address rather than an overnight stop. It’s a big seasonal resort where plenty of rigs stay the whole season, which means quiet evenings, real amenities, and a pine canopy doing the work your air conditioner would otherwise do. You trade a little highway noise for serious relief from the heat.

Best for

  • Phoenix and Tucson RVers escaping summer heat for a week or a season.
  • Basecamping Flagstaff, Sedona and the Grand Canyon from one hookup.
  • Anyone hauling a UTV: 100+ miles of off-road, hiking and biking trails start at the park.
  • Travelers who want a pool, a gym and live events, not just a parking pad.

Consider this

  • I-17 truck noise carries at night, especially near the frontage side.
  • Older shaded sites are tight to maneuver; newer sites are open gravel with little shade.
  • Reviews split sharply between older and newer sections, so ask which phase your site is in.
  • Closed November through March. No winter option here.

Good to know before you pull in

Five things that change your booking

Ask these on the phone before you reserve.

  • Which phase is my site in? Phase 1 means shade and tight turns; the newer phases mean space and sun.
  • Is there sewer at the site? The water-and-50-amp tier doesn’t have it.
  • How far is the site from I-17? Light sleepers should be deeper in the trees.
  • Pack for the mountains. Nights get cold and July brings monsoon afternoons, so bring real bedding and plan to pull the awning in.
  • Staying a month or the season? Send your request early in spring. Summer fills first.

Know before you go

Frequently asked questions

A few details before you hit the road.

No. The season runs April 1 through October 31. For a year-round park in the pines, look at Flagstaff KOA Holiday instead.

Most likely. The resort says its monthly and seasonal sites take rigs up to 45 ft, and it offers pull-thru and back-in sites. The older tree-shaded sites are the ones to ask about: shade is better, turning room isn’t. Tell the office your length and tow setup when you reserve.

You’ll hear trucks, mostly on the sites nearer the frontage road. Deeper in the trees it fades to a background hum. Light sleepers should ask for a site away from the highway side.

Mostly, yes. Cell service is decent for a forest location, and park Wi-Fi handles email, though it slows in the evening. If you depend on satellite internet, book an open site in the newer phases, since the pine canopy blocks the sky.

If you’re fleeing a Phoenix summer, the math is easy. Seasonal stays (April–October) start at $6,181 for a Phase 1 full-hookup site, and monthly stays from $1,008, plus electric. Monthly and seasonal stays have their own policies, so call or send a reservation request early; summer fills first.

Check-in starts at noon and check-out is 11 a.m. Arriving after 6 p.m.? Pick up your check-in packet from the Night Registration Box at the front office.

The scores split by section, not by park. Google’s large sample averages 4.2 and the Good Sam inspection rates the facility 9 of 10; the sour reviews cluster around older pads, gravel dust and highway noise.
