The MartAnne’s story
The house that chilaquiles built
Gloria Martan Korkki started the restaurant in the early 1980s as Martan’s, built on chips, sauce and eggs. Anne Martinez took over in 2001, and her daughter Tina Martinez has run it since 2012. Tina added “Anne” to the name when the awning needed replacing.
Tina later moved MartAnne’s around the corner to its current spot on Route 66, with a liquor license, more room and a bigger menu. The walls are raspberry, ochre and cotton-candy blue, hung with skeleton art by former server Emma Gardner, and Arizona Daily Sun readers have voted it best breakfast, best Mexican and best waitstaff.
