What guests say
The campground report card
We don’t recycle other sites’ reviews, but the published scores are worth reading together: the pines, trail access and friendly staff win praise, while tight sites, uneven pads and aging facilities pull the averages down.

Around Flagstaff KOA
Leave the rig hooked up. Trails start at the campground, downtown is about 10 minutes away, and two national monuments sit just up US-89.

Downtown Flagstaff & Route 66
Brick downtown, breweries and Route 66 history, with Lowell Observatory about 15 minutes away. Close enough for dinner in town.

Sunset Crater & Wupatki
Follow US-89 north to the loop road through Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki national monuments: lava flows, cinder cones and red sandstone pueblos. Through Oct. 21, 2026, the south end of the loop is closed for road work, so enter from the north through Wupatki.

Mount Elden trails from camp
Walk from the campground into the Coconino National Forest and the Mount Elden trail system, with views across Flagstaff to the San Francisco Peaks.

Grand Canyon South Rim
An easy day trip by Arizona standards: US-180 through the pines, or I-40 and AZ-64 via Williams. Leave early and pack water.

Flagstaff KOA Holiday is a large, busy KOA in ponderosa pines at the base of Mount Elden, a few minutes from I-40 and the Flagstaff Mall. The setting, trail access and big-rig sites are the draw; the trade-offs are close neighbors, uneven gravel pads and prices some reviewers feel outpace the facilities.
Best for
- Grand Canyon, Sedona and national monument road-trippers who want an easy-access basecamp off I-40.
- Big rigs that need 50 amp and a pull-through, with sites listed up to 75 ft.
- Families: a playground, crafts, bike rentals, a dog park and cabins for the non-campers.
- Hikers who want to walk from camp onto the Mount Elden trails.
Consider this
- Sites sit close together and gravel pads can be unlevel; bring leveling blocks.
- Interior roads are narrow, so big rigs should take it slow and ask for an easy site.
- There’s no pool on site; the city’s Aquaplex is a short drive away.
- Some sites pick up highway and siren noise; quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Good to know before you pull in
Five things that change your booking
Ask these on the phone before you reserve.
- Will my rig fit this site? KOA lists sites up to 75 ft, but reviewers call the interior roads and some sites tight. Give your exact length and slide-outs when you book.
- Do I need 50 amp? Full-hookup pull-thrus and the patio sites have 50/30-amp service; some water-and-electric sites are 30 or 20 amp.
- Is the site level? Gravel pads vary. Ask for a level site, and bring blocks either way.
- Are campfires allowed right now? Fire rings are subject to current fire restrictions, which can tighten in dry, windy months.
- Pack for 7,000 ft. Nights are cold even in summer, monsoon storms roll in July–September, and winter brings snow.
