The resort report card
We don’t recycle other sites’ reviews, but the published scores are worth reading together: guests love the beach and location, while small, tight sites and high summer prices pull RV scores down.

Plan your stay
Everything that decides whether Newport Dunes fits your rig, your dates and your budget, in one place.
Our take: the full beach-resort version of RV camping in Orange County: a swimming lagoon, sandy beach, pools and a marina, with full hookups and Wi-Fi. Expect small, mostly back-in sites packed close together, airport and highway noise, and summer prices that can top $500 a night for the best sites.

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina sits on about 100 acres of county-owned land on Newport Bay and has hosted campers since 1958. Today it has roughly 380 RV sites (the resort’s own pages give different counts), 27 cottages and a 442-slip marina.
Best for
- Families who want a swimmable, waveless lagoon beach steps from the RV.
- Resort-style stays with pools, spas, cabanas, rentals and summer movies.
- Exploring Newport Beach: Balboa Island and Crystal Cove are about 10 minutes away.
- Big groups: rally and group rates are available for 10+ sites.
Consider this
- Sites are close together, and most are back-in only.
- Summer and holiday rates are high, and dynamic pricing makes them hard to predict.
- Reviewers mention John Wayne Airport flights and PCH traffic noise.
- Dogs only (no more than two), and rottweilers and pit bulls aren’t allowed.
