What you’ll see

California, Disney style

Disney California Adventure trades castles for California landmarks, Pixar stories and Marvel heroes, all in nine themed lands.

Start here

Buena Vista Street to Pixar Pier

You enter on Buena Vista Street, a version of 1920s Los Angeles where the Red Car Trolley runs between palm trees. From there the park opens onto Cars Land, Avengers Campus, San Fransokyo Square and Pixar Pier, home of the Incredicoaster and the Pixar Pal-A-Round wheel.

RV tip: California Adventure often closes an hour or more before Disneyland, so with a Park Hopper, do this park first and cross the plaza for the evening.

Why go

Thrill rides and a big night show

Disney California Adventure opened on February 8, 2001, on 72 acres facing Disneyland Park across the entrance plaza. Its nine lands lean on Pixar and Marvel stories, and it’s where you’ll find the resort’s biggest coaster, the Incredicoaster, and World of Color, the evening show on Paradise Bay.

RV logistics are identical to Disneyland’s. Motorhomes park in the Toy Story Parking Area off Harbor Boulevard, and free shuttle buses drop you at the same entrance plaza, so a Park Hopper ticket makes it easy to see both parks in one long day.

Hours are shorter here than at Disneyland, usually closing at 9 or 10 pm, so plan the evening around World of Color or hop across the plaza for Disneyland’s later hours.

Why it made our list

  • Cars Land, Avengers Campus and Pixar Pier in one park
  • The Incredicoaster at Pixar Pier
  • World of Color on Paradise Bay after dark
  • The same RV lot and shuttles as Disneyland
  • Easy to pair with Disneyland on a Park Hopper

For RVers

Taking the rig to California Adventure

The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.

Park the rig at Toy Story

Motorhomes and oversized vehicles can park only in the Toy Story Parking Area, off Harbor Boulevard south of Katella Avenue: $45 a day for a motorhome or a tractor without a trailer, $50 for a bus or a tractor with an extended trailer. Free shuttle buses run to the main entrance plaza.

Or leave it at camp

Anaheim Harbor RV Park is about 2 miles from the Toy Story lot, so many RVers drive the tow vehicle in and pay the $40 standard car rate, or skip parking altogether with a rideshare.

No overnight stays, no pets

planDisney panelists say RVs over 40 feet aren’t accepted and overnight RV parking isn’t allowed. Only trained service animals may enter the parks, and the resort has no kennel, so arrange pet care at your RV park.

Arrive early

Disney opens its parking areas 60 minutes before the earliest park opening. Rigs that roll in at opening have the easiest time finding a spot and catching a shuttle bus.
