The charter fleet on the boardwalk
The City of Destin built the boardwalk so the public could walk the harbor’s edge, and the fishing charter boats tie up right alongside it. Stroll past the fleet in the afternoon, then pick a waterfront restaurant or book a cruise from one of the docks.
RV tip: the city’s pay-to-park lots are for passenger cars and pickups only, and other vehicles are towed. Leave the RV at camp and come in the tow vehicle.
More to see
- HarborWalk VillageThe shopping and dining village at the west end of the harbor, with water sports, boat and jet ski rentals, dolphin and pirate cruises and nightlife.
- Cruises and rentalsDolphin cruises, pirate-ship sails, pontoon and jet ski rentals and Crab Island trips all leave from docks along the harbor. Each business sets its own prices.
- October on the harborThe city lists the Destin Seafood Festival on the first weekend of October and the Destin Fishing Rodeo all month long.
- Views to Norriego PointThe sandy point across the harbor is Norriego Point, a city park you can reach by car from the other side.

Why go
A public walkway on a busy harbor
The boardwalk grew out of the city’s 2003 Harbor Community Redevelopment Area Plan. Destin worked out pedestrian easements with waterfront property owners and finished the boardwalk in June 2012, opening nearly a quarter mile of the harbor’s edge to walkers.
For RVers the trick is parking. The city’s Harbor District lots, at the Destin Community Center, Marler Street at US-98 and Zerbe Street at Sibert Avenue, charge $15 for the day but take passenger cars and pickups only, with no overnight parking. Drive over in the tow vehicle from a park in Destin, Okaloosa Island or Miramar Beach.
October is a good month to come. The city lists the Destin Seafood Festival on the first weekend and the Destin Fishing Rodeo all month. Hurricane Isaias knocked out power across Destin on October 9, 2026; by October 14 the visitor bureau said services were widely restored, with some disruptions remaining, so check with each business.

For RVers
Visiting the harbor with an RV
The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.
Come in the tow vehicle
The city’s pay-to-park lots are for passenger cars and pickups only, and the city says all others will be towed. There’s no RV parking on the harbor, so leave the rig at camp.
Pick a city lot
Harbor District lots at the Community Center, Marler Street at US-98 and Zerbe Street at Sibert Avenue cost $15 for the day. Pay with the Passport Parking app or by phone at (850) 391-5840.
Cross US-98 at a crosswalk
Most harbor parking is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the boardwalk. The city asks walkers to cross US-98 at Marler Street, across from AJ’s, or at Stahlman Avenue.
No overnight parking
Overnight parking isn’t allowed in any city lot, and the city fines parking violations $100. Plan to head back to camp at the end of the evening.
