Why go

La Jolla’s classic ocean-view table

George Hauer opened George’s at the Cove on August 9, 1984, and the ocean-view terrace followed in 1991. Chef Trey Foshee has led the kitchen since 1998, and the Michelin Guide gave it a Plate in 2019.

It has 4.4 stars from more than 4,400 Google reviews; Tripadvisor (4.3) and Yelp (3.9) are cooler. Google’s review topics highlight the ocean view, sunsets, the rooftop and fish tacos.

The rooftop Ocean Terrace reopened in February 2026 after a renovation. It looks over La Jolla Cove, so plan to walk the coast before or after you eat.

For RVers

Taking the rig to George’s

The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.

Leave the rig at camp

La Jolla’s village streets are narrow and busy, and San Diego bars RVs and oversized vehicles from city streets from 2 to 6 am and within 50 feet of an intersection at any time.

Use the valet

LAZ runs a valet stand right at the front door. Street parking is offered but often full, per the restaurant.

Plan for the terrace

Online reservations are limited and the terrace is weather dependent. Call (858) 454-4244, walk in or take a first-come bar seat.

Try Little Luxuries

From 2 to 5 pm daily, the Ocean Terrace and Level2 bars serve a Little Luxuries menu of food and drink pairings.
