The Brotula’s story
A harbor fish house named for a deep-water fish
Brotula’s opened in 2015 in the old Fisherman’s Wharf building on the Destin Harbor, after local restaurateurs Tyler Jarvis and Chris Ruyan gave it a full makeover. Garage-style doors open the bar to the water.
The name comes from the bearded brotula, a sweet-fleshed fish caught in deep local water. The kitchen has represented Florida at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off, placing second in 2022 with a lionfish dish.
Why it made our list
- Harbor-view deck on the Destin fishing fleet marina
- Steamer buckets served gluten free
- Cook-your-catch service for anglers
- Daily happy hour from 2 to 6 pm
