Dinner is steak and Northwest seafood: fresh fish, aged steaks and prime rib, on a menu that changes with the seasons. Every entrée comes with the 18-foot salad bar or a bowl of house New England clam chowder.

Pro tip: Book a table for the hour before sunset and ask for a window. Mon–Thu (3:30–4:30 pm) and Sunday (3–4:30 pm) the kitchen serves early dining, so ask about it when you book.

The Cedars story

Dinner on a floating landmark since 1965

The Cedars opened in 1965 at the spot where Lake Coeur d’Alene empties into the Spokane River, off Blackwell Island. The restaurant was rebuilt in 1991 and still floats on about 600,000 pounds of concrete-encased foam.

It’s now part of the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s family of restaurants. A floating all-weather deck was added in 2015, and boaters can still tie up at the docks and walk in for dinner.
