The lagoon and the village streets

RV tip: leashed dogs are welcome throughout the village, and there are waste stations along the way. Coolers aren’t allowed at the concerts.

Why go
An easy evening out from the Miramar Beach parks
Baytowne Wharf sits on Choctawhatchee Bay inside Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, about eight miles east of Destin. The village calls itself the “heart and soul” of Sandestin, and its free events calendar is the main reason to go.
For RVers, it’s close to camp: about 7 minutes from Camping on the Gulf and 10 minutes from Geronimo RV Park. It works best as an evening trip in the tow vehicle, because Sandestin’s terms bar RVs, campers and trailers of any kind from parking on resort premises.
Late October is busy. The Haunted Courtyard runs through October 31, the last Wednesday concert is October 28, and Trick or Treat Street ends with fireworks at 8 p.m. on Halloween. The village posted no storm closure after Hurricane Isaias as of October 24.

For RVers
Planning a Baytowne evening from your RV
The practical stuff we wished someone had told us before we pulled in.
Leave the rig at camp
Sandestin’s terms prohibit RVs, campers, buses and trailers of any kind from parking on resort premises. Drive over in the tow vehicle and use the free garage.
Parking is free
The village has a free public garage and several overflow lots, with a shuttle from the lots in summer and for big events. Valet is first come, first served.
Bring the dog
Dogs are welcome on a leash, and owners must clean up. Waste stations are spread through the village.
Leave the golf cart too
Golf carts not registered with the Sandestin owners’ association are prohibited on resort premises, so a cart from your campsite can’t come in.
